Customizeable Shields.
I have always thought this to be a good idea, but never put it into a thread before. So here goes!
All weapons can be customized to add +20% dmg. Swords/axes/hammers/wands/spears/scythes/staves/bows/daggers. Every weapon in the game can be, even greens. Here is my idea. MANY professions now use shields for whatever reason. Why not add the option to customize your shield and add +20% armor. For max shields that would be +3.2 armor. While not much, it would still be very nice. I really do not see how this would be bad. What do you guys think??

Well, I have posted this long ago. Prob: It will ruin the amour mechanical of the game. All balance team or spike team will need to recalculate the spike. You might think it does not make much different but +3 amour have a huge impact esp when killing a good monk with a shield.

While i agree completely with you, lets just say the dmg being handed out on the spike is lightning damage. What if the monk has a +10 vs lightning mod on the shield? That also messes with spike mechanics. Or maybe the monk has 7 in tactics with a req 7 tac shield. So that monk has 16 armor already? See where i am going with this

So, customize offhands to have +energy then as well. Why should i only get +dmg out of my customizations.

Adding anything with customization would shift game balance a bit so I'm not so sure it would be a good idea.
But I would *love* if they would let us customize shields/offhands just for the customization sake.

staves and wand+off-hand are balanced to each other
with adding a bonus to one off them, they'll become better then the other.
If you want to add +3 energy to your off-hand when customized, the un-customized version would give 9 to make it balanced again.
Therefore it's better to leave it alone.

Actually... people already do that. Most monks in high end GvGs have multiple +10 armor v X shields which they swap out for depending what team they are facing.
Thus, another +3 armor could be gamebreaking.

Unless, when customizing staves you also get extra energy in addition to the extra damage.

Arguing game balance doesn't make sense here, assuming 3.2 armor can completely negate a 3 person spike on 1 target is stupid.
If anything, I would want it so that my items stay my own items. Give people the option to do it, if they dont want it, its still there for the people that do.
